Welcome to Poddy of 2 – Episode 1 – Taking the Scenic Route
After years of people telling us we should start a podcast—and years of Billy and me saying we would—we finally sat down, hit record, and Poddy of 2 was officially born.
Our first episode, “Taking the Scenic Route,” is exactly what it sounds like: a fun, slightly chaotic introduction to us and the busy, unpredictable life we’ve been living. We talk about marriage, nicknames, music, the launch of TrueNorthey.com, changes in the Billy Shaw Jr. Band, unexpected friendships, and the night we shared a stage with Lynyrd Skynyrd—when the Bottle Babes debuted a line dance, the glitter got a little out of control, and someone eventually had to vacuum the stage. They cannot prove that it was our fault, but the evidence is not great.
We also introduce you to the science-fiction-looking starfish flower growing in our backyard. He has since been named Patrick, and yes, there will be a follow-up because apparently Patrick is now part of the family. Feel free to leave a comment with a better name, although Patrick is really starting to stick!
This first episode is definitely our pilot. We recorded it on our phones, I learned the production side as I went, and we had no idea what it would become—but that is kind of the point. You can expect better microphones, more production, fun guests, stories about the band, our life, Billy’s treasure-hunting adventures, my book & TrueNorthey.com writing, and whatever mildly unhinged thing happens next.
Billy also wrote a tiny Poddy of 2 jingle, and I apologize in advance because it is a serious earworm. I wake up singing, “Poddy of 2, Poddy of 2, welcome to our Poddy of 2…” He is extremely pleased with himself.
