It’s Poddy of 2-sday, and since we apparently do not know how to quietly ease into anything, we are starting with a doubleheader.

Billy and I recorded the original pilot episode of Poddy of 2 quite a while ago…and then we lost it. Not in some deep, metaphorical way where we lost sight of our purpose or needed to find ourselves. We literally lost the recording. It disappeared into that mysterious digital black hole where missing files, forgotten passwords, and screenshots you swear you saved somewhere all go to live.

Then, just as randomly as it disappeared, we found it.

At first, I thought maybe we should redo it. We know more now. We have better equipment. We could probably sound a little more organized and pretend we had some sort of professional podcast plan. But where would the fun be in that? The whole point of Poddy of 2 is Billy and me talking about real life, wandering completely off topic, remembering stories in the middle of other stories, and occasionally forgetting what we were talking about in the first place.

So we decided to put it up exactly as it is.

Two Parts. Twice the Laughs. Plenty of Rabble-Rousing.

We also talked too long for one episode, which should surprise absolutely no one, so the lost pilot comes in two parts.

Part 1 covers bedtime television, the Ring doorbell, Dairy Queen, dogs, laundry disagreements, marriage, and something called “put-pocketing,” which is exactly what it sounds like and also not what it sounds like at all. Somewhere in there, we realize that being married can mean being madly in love while also occasionally behaving like two mildly irritated roommates trying to determine who left what lying where.

Part 2 brings in Alexa, ChatGPT, health, sobriety, music, the band, and the enormous difference between a real marriage and the shiny, perfectly filtered version people sometimes post online. We also manage to work in Costco parking strategies, my tangled Tucson family connections, our dreams of eventually becoming RV people, how “Don’t Leave My Lips Hanging” became a song idea, and one mysterious note that simply says…“bacon story.”

Honestly, that is a fairly accurate preview of how this podcast is going to work. We will start in one place, take six unrelated detours, accidentally say something meaningful, laugh at ourselves, and eventually land somewhere in the general vicinity of a point.

The lost pilot of Poddy of 2 may not be polished, but it is funny, honest, completely unscripted, and very much us.

Parts 1 and 2 are now available on Spotify…just in time for our first official Poddy of 2-sday doubleheader.

You can listen now on Spotify or visit Poddyof2.com, which currently brings you here to this website for now on its temporary home on True Northey while I build its own website. 😀

Two people. One life. No script. Welcome to Poddy of 2.
